40k Tourney

So, I took 2nd place.. Go a box of immortals. Was over all a good tourney for my very first experience with the Necrons.

The missions were the 2011 Adeptacon with standard deployment.

I will post battle reps tomorrow. I played against Space Marines, Deathwing, and Blood Angels.

Lost to the deathwing, i didnt kite him well enough. I shut out the space marine player and the blood angels player had some bad rolls but fell victim to the monolith's gateway door.

40k Legion Tourney on 11/19/11

So I was given a very interesting offer by a store manager to come play in a Regional Tourney involving people from NH, NY, VT, and even the big Canada. So part of this invitation to play in this was to use the models he had for Necrons and the new codex and see what I could do. He did not have a lot of the great options from the new codex but I am getting some value out of a few different things. After sifting through what he had I came up with this 1750 list.

Destroyer Lord
Sempiternal Weave
Res Orb
Staff of Light

Overlord
Sempiternal Weave
Res Orb
Staff of Light
Phylactery

Cryptec
Harbinger of Dispair
Veil of Darkness

Lord
Sempiternal Weave
Staff of Light

Necron Warriors x12

Necron Warriors x12

Immortals x10

Immortals x5
Tesla Carbine

Canoptek Scarab x8

Heavy Destroyer x3

Destroyer x4

Monolith

Annihilation Barge

The idea behind this list is to keep it mobile and drop out a lot of shots with percision. Using the Monolith and the cryptek to teleport units around to vital points on the map it will be key keep the monolith safe. Given the range on weapons that really threaten it, it should be alright. My friend didnt have a lot of warriors or immortals so I am taking everything he had an option for. With a little luck and some solid mobility I should be able to keep them alive and push them around positions to hold objectives. My list does provide a good amount of kill points but I believe that I can work around that.

A few questions for the community. How do you think kill points should be handled for the royal court? A seperate kill point for each "sgt" to the squads or a kill point for the unit and bare no extra kill point. Sort of reaching but there is also the arguement that you would not get a kill point unless you killed them all as they are a unit and then split into other units. *shrug* it is not really well defined and leads me to believe 6th edition is in the works. Many things in this book do not make a whole lot of sense the way they work.

Day Two

So I am involved in the Journeyman League for Warmachine. I decided to play Mercs. Broadside Bart at his best.. The Battle Box is Bartolo, Freebooter, Mariner, and a Buccaneer. I have painted up all the models and started work on the buccaneer thus far. I am going with a blue, bone, and chrome scheme. I will post picks in the near future.

So when the league steps it up a notch I am going to probably add gunner. I need the firepower to make up for the loss of firepower from the buccaneer. Knockdown is great but when you have nothing to exploit it with it becomes wasted.

Sadly tonight was the start at our local gaming store of the league. I was unable to attend due to parent teacher conference night. However I should have some great upcoming battle reports for 40k using the new necron codex at a tourney on Saturday and will get some league games in for warmachine on Sunday. Until then. Keep the dice rollin.

New Blog Community

Well, I have finally finished moving and I am going to start my new years resolution off early by comitting to write in this blog every day up into the new year. This blog will host a large volume of information surrounding Games Workshop, Privateer Press, and a few other companies that produce computer games.

The focus of this blog will be around my adventure to start out a new necron army and to finish off my sisters of battle force. In addition to this I have recently picked up Mercs from the Warmachine line and I am looking to use them to extend my Cryx force. There will be battle reports, painting tips and tricks, tactics, and various reviews of units and experience with various models.

So please join me on my hobby experiences, feedback is always welcome!
